About Session

From SFYS Artist Maggie Elizabeth May: A virtual visit with our friends at Down Syndrome Louisville is the perfect end to a work week. These listeners bring such joy, enthusiasm....even costumes and props to these sessions, which make them so fun! I sang one of my favorite songs, "When Will My Life Begin?" from TANGLED, and so many people were acting out the story from behind their Zoom screens. Michel sang some incredible musical theatre classics, including "Breath" from IN THE HEIGHTS (many people from DSL had recently seen the film adaptation on the big screen!). It was Luke's first appearance with DSL, and he treated us all with an improvised tap routine to a medley from COCO. Beth really brought home the Disney theme with pieces from FROZEN, HERCULES and THE DESCENDANTS. At the end of the session, our Down Syndrome of Louisville friends performed for US! Their rendition of "I Put A Spell On You", popularized by the film HOCUS POCUS, really got us in the Halloween spirit! Right before we end these sessions, everyone un-mutes themselves to say goodbye; it's so special to hear everyone cheering, saying hello, and even signing in American Sign Language "I Love You." We love you, kindness warriors, and cannot wait to see you again.
