Our session at The Lenox Hill Neighborhood House was filled with musical delights.
Melanie started out with the classic “Happy Days.” Next Ron brought rousing renditions of Broadway favorites like “Anyone Can Whistle.”
Luke surprised the audience with an impressive tap number to “I Got Rhythm” and then an intimate musical moment at the piano. Erika charmed the audience with jazz staples like “Nice Work If You Can Get It” and “I Love Paris.”
Molly shared some Disney nostalgia in an impromptu duet with Luke to “A Whole New World.” Then she followed with “Journey to the Past.”
Our afternoon ended with the Abba hit, “Thank You for the Music” as everyone sang along. On the way out, one enthusiastic senior approached the artists to share how important music has been to her, especially in this chapter of her life. She said she’d be requesting more SYFS sessions and in the meantime she’ll be anxiously awaiting the next session. The feeling is mutual!
