About Session

From SFYS Session Leader Maggie Elizabeth May:

It was so wonderful to be back in person at Inspir this weekend. It was a joyful and emotional session, not only because it was some of our singers first time singing in person after the pandemic, but over weekend we lost one of the greats, composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim. One of our seniors regaled that “Being Alive” was her favorite song of his. We chatted with some of the seniors who saw the original film adaptation of WEST SIDE STORY in cinemas, and shared our excitement for the remake coming out in a few weeks.

Suzanne started our session off, which was extra special because she also works at Inspir. She was able to call to our seniors by name, ask engaging questions, and sang so beautifully in her songs “Anyone Can Whistle” and “Red Shoes Blues”. Meghan sang the joyful “My Favorite Things” and her clever rendition of THE NANNY theme song.  Sweet Taylor made us laugh with “Adelaide’s Lament” and “Vanilla Ice Cream”, and Shannon opened with Sondheim’s “Comedy Tonight” and closed us out with a fabulous “We Need A Little Christmas,” which got the crowd singing along with holiday cheer.
