We were grateful to be at Inspīr Assisted Living and Memory Care this gorgeous Easter day!
Our seniors were quite chatty today, asking questions about our careers and future plans. Ro started us off with a fun and boisterous “Get Happy” which got our seniors tapping their feet. They sang along with Maggie as she sang “The Sound of Music.” Megan sang a gorgeous “If I Loved You.”
Today was extra special for Sing For Your Seniors because we had a new accompanist, Steven, join us for the first time. We are always amazed how musicians can pick up a new piece of music and play it on the spot.
Our session leader, Maggie Elizabeth May, had this to say about the day:
“To be honest, I woke up today missing my family. I took the subway and there were lots of grumpy people riding, including myself. Then, my troubles and stress truly melted away the second we began our Sing For Your Seniors session. My heart melted as I watched people who were struggling to speak suddenly sing all of the words of a song they knew. I watched the caretakers at Inspīr gently pat them on the leg or brush their hair out of their face with such love. I am inspired by them and our singers. I have met some incredible people through this organization. We are always looking for special people to join us, so please get in touch if you would like to sing or play with us! A Sing For Your Seniors day is guaranteed to lift your spirits.”
