About Session

Emily kicked off the session with “The Spark of Creation” for the Stephen Schwartz fans in the audience at The Sage Center. Even though the audience had never heard music from CHILDREN OF EDEN, they could tell that it was the same composer who wrote WICKED.

Suzanne’s glorious vocals on “Sound of Music" and “I Got Rhythm” inspired the entire audience to sing along. Our very talented accompanist, Noah, convinced Molly to sing one of his favorites, “Vanilla Ice Cream.” When she perfectly sang the high note at the end of the song, several people gasped. It was incredibly impressive! Since it’s baseball season, Susan (a baseball fan herself along with several audience members) got everyone bouncing with “You Gotta Have Heart” from DAMN YANKEES.

The audience loved hearing our audition and show stories surrounding the songs we chose. One senior, John, even suggested a Duke Ellington song to Emily that she’d never heard of. We began with a small audience and ended with a packed room. People kept coming in as they heard the great performances from the hallway. We cannot wait to go back!
