The afternoon at the Central Harlem Senior Citizens Center was filled with wonderful show tunes and toe-tapping jazz standards.
The audience immediately began to clap along to Zach’s opening number: “Cheek to Cheek.” Taylor continued the jazz theme with a sing-along of “L-O-V-E.”
Members of the audience called for an encore after Sara’s gorgeous performance of “Cry Me a River.” Then Anna’s “A Cockeyed Optimist” transported everyone to the world of Golden Age musical theatre. Next, she had the audience dancing to “Sway.” Finally, Taylor closed the program with an energetic “I Will Survive.” Kent’s lively piano playing sent everyone out with a bang.
After the performance, a senior shared that she used to love to take her daughter to Broadway shows over 40 years ago and hearing these songs brought those cherished memories back. Her story was a touching reminder of the Sing For Your Seniors mission to create shared joy through music!
