In 2025, members of the Metropolitan Opera Chorus began participating in special Sing For Your Seniors sessions, launching a partnership that has continued to flourish through recurring performances and community engagement opportunities. This month, The Met Opera Chorus joined SFYS for a special session at The 92nd Street Y. 

This collaboration was a natural extension of the three organizations’ mission. The Metropolitan Opera strives to be “a vibrant home for the most creative and talented singers from around the world,” bringing world-class artistry to audiences through the power of live performance. Sing For Your Seniors similarly believes in the transformative power of music, working to “enrich lives through the universal language of music by bringing professional performing artists to the communities of seniors in need to entertain, foster intergenerational connection and create shared joy.” The 92nd Street Y serves surrounding communities by “bringing people together and providing exceptional, groundbreaking programs in the performing and visual arts,” making it an especially meaningful setting for this collaboration.

Together, these organizations created more than a performance — they created a shared experience rooted in artistry, connection and community. By combining The Met Opera Chorus’ extraordinary vocal talent, The 92nd Street Y’s commitment to accessible cultural programming and SFYS’s mission to combat isolation among seniors through music, the partnership beautifully demonstrates how the performing arts can foster joy, human connection and belonging across generations.
