Emily Kay Shrader (EmKay) is a New Yorker of 11 years, lover of sprinkled donuts, purveyor of cozy coffee shops and artist born and raised in sunny Northern California. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a Musical Theatre minor from  Marymount Manhattan College and is a guitar/voice/songwriting/ukulele teacher at New York City Guitar School.  EmKay fell in love with singing at the age of three and has loved performing and growing ever since.

Favorite musical stage roles include Sister Mary Robert in Sister Act (2nd National/Asia tour), Maggie in A Chorus Line (Connecticut Repertory Theatre), Beth in Little Women (Sierra Repertory Theatre) and Nancy in Stranger Sings (54 Below). EmKay has had the pleasure of working with new musical theatre composers while performing at legendary NYC cabaret venues Feinstein's/54 Below, Joe's Pub, Birdland, The Duplex, and Rockwood Music Hall. She also loves providing cozy acoustic music and vocals for proposals, weddings, memorial services, birthdays and any event where music is needed to bring people together, in addition to performing her original music and covers around New York City and online.

With Tara Tagliaferro, EmKay co-hosts an all things Wizard of Oz podcast, Down the Yellow Brick Pod, available anywhere you listen to podcasts. You can often find her reading a good novel in the sunshine, biking near the water, traveling to visit family and friends and daydreaming.
